Resolution Against the campaign of criminalization of the International Communist Movement
Presented at the International Communist Seminar, Brussels, May 2-4, 2001
Yesterday, the Italian police arrested eight comrades of the organization « Communist Initiative » on the accusation of « subversive association » and with the hypothesis of terrorist threats. Without any proof, as is even acknowledged by the Italian newspapers, the center-Left government once more wants to deal a blow, in a preventive way and in the framework of an electoral strategy, against any voice of dissent to its politics of hunger and war. In the last two years, more than 200 comrades, members of various communist and anticapitalist organizations in Italy, have been subject to repressive measures. Among them are people present at this Seminar. This so-called « Left » government is the same that has participated in the bombing of Yugoslavia, that has condemned Cuba for « human rights violations » and that doesn’t allow critical or alternative positions vis-à-vis the capitalist model.
At the same time, in the pages of the bourgeois Italian newspapers, there is talk of a « terrorist international », and the Workers’ Party of Belgium as well as the movement Russia At Work (Viktor Anpilov) are cited. This is the proof that, on a European and world scale, the campaign of criminalization of the international communist movement is growing, due to imperialism’s fear of the consequences the general crisis will have on the struggles of the workers and the oppressed peoples and on the capacity of the communists to organize and guide all these struggles towards the final aim of the liberation from exploitation.
This campaign wants to call the communists « terrorists ». But it is not us, communists, who are killing (with arms or by means of hunger) men, women, children and the elderly with blockades, wars, biological, chemical and nuclear contamination : it is capitalism, the real international of terror !
Faced with this new bourgeois campaign of criminalization and repression, we express all our solidarity to the Italian comrades and all communist organizations that are persecuted internationally because of their ideas. We reaffirm our common commitment to continue on the road of unity and of struggle against capitalism and imperialism and for socialism.
Workers of all countries, unite !
Long live proletarian internationalism !
