The peoples of Latin America know very well the exploitative and invasive character of U.S. imperialism, which, together with the reactionary governme0nts of the region - with the singular exception of Cuba-, is pushing forward its plans of adjustment, hunger, misery, privatisation of public enterprises, repayment of the foreign debt, etc.
But the resistance of workers, peasants and other popular sectors has been developing at an increasing pace, giving rise to various forms of people's struggle.
In Colombia, although people are confronted with the generalised violence of State terrorism and the paramilitary forces, the guerrilla has inflicted heavy defeats on the Armed Forces. Imperialism is analysing the situation in Colombia with great concern, and intends to form a multinational military force to be able to intervene more openly.
Revolutionary armed struggle is also growing and advancing in Mexico and Peru, notwithstanding the attempts of the reactionary governments to extinguish them.
More and more Latin Americans are struggling against imperialism and the native oligarchies, through land occupations by landless peasants in Brazil, Paraguay and Ecuador; road blockades by workers and unemployed in Argentina and Bolivia; and popular struggles in Chile, the Dominican Republic and other countries.
We, the undersigned, denounce and reject imperialist military intervention, State terrorism and paramilitary violence in Colombia.
We express our solidarity with the struggles of the Latin America people, and particularly with the revolutionary struggle in Colombia. As revolutionaries, it is our duty to actively intervene in these struggles to elevate them to higher forms, in accordance with the concrete situation and political reality of each country, so that they become struggles for political power, national liberation and socialism.
